FBI and Local authorities Investigating Ohio Bombing As Potential Hate Crime

The home of an interracial Cleveland couple exploded last week, leaving rubble and the charred remains of their personal belongings and memories. Luckily residents Brad and Angela Frase were not injured in the explosion. The couple, who had lived in their now destroyed home for 23 years, discovered swastikas and racial slurs drawn on their garage door after the attack. Right-wing terror is upgrading from guns to bombs.

“There were some racial slurs and a swastika that was spray painted on (the garage),” said Sherriff Travis Hutchinson. “We’re not going to tolerate that type of activity and behavior here.”

This bombing follows the recent Dayton, Ohio mass shooting in which a young man killed 9 people. Ohioan residents are on edge as the normally quaint heartland state is rocked by the growing politically charged violence.

Missouri Man Claims He “Had Every Right” To Slam Little Boy Down For Not Removing Hat During Nat’l Anthem

“There was a little boy lying on the ground, he was bleeding out of his ears, seizing on the ground, just not coherent,” said Taylor Hennick, who saw the attack. “He said [the boy] was disrespecting the national anthem so he had every right to do that.”

39-year-old Curt Brockway stands accused of picking up a 13-year-old and slamming him to the ground by the throat, fracturing his skull so severely that the boy had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital. What did this young teen do to warrant such an assault? He failed to remove his hat during the National Anthem.

At this point you may be wondering why this story is on WriteLeft. Here it is: Brockway’s attorney claims that the man has brain damage from an injury he sustained while in the Army in 2000. That brain damage has, according to the attorney, impaired his client’s ability to not take Donald Trump seriously. Thus, Mr. Brockway believes that violence is necessary when children don’t respect the Anthem.

“Jasper said he believes his client’s mental condition allowed him to be “exploited” by “animosity” expressed by Trump. The president is one of the leading critics of NFL players who refuse to stand for the national anthem in protest of police brutality against Americans of color.

“Trump never necessarily says ‘go hurt somebody,’ but the message is absolutely clear,” Jasper told the Missoulian. “I am certain of the fact that [Brockway] was doing what he believed he was told to do, essentially, by the president.”

There is currently a GoFundMe that has been circulated to help raise money for the victim’s medical bills.

Trump Delivers Public Address After two mass shootings in two days, “We vow to act with urgent resolve.”

MSNBC

“We are a loving nation,” Trump speaks in a softer tone than he is known for, “and our children deserve to grow up in a just, peaceful, loving society.” The 45th President of the United States delivered a somber address today following two mass shootings over the weekend; one perpetrated by a racist white-supremacist, who expressed support for the Christchurch shooter, the other for unknown reasons. Trump commonly receives criticism from citizens and allied countries for his failure to condemn racists and white supremacists, and at times for being racist himself.

“We vow to act with urgent resolve.” states Trump.

“Today we also send the condolences of our nation to President Obrador of Mexico, and all the people of Mexico for the loss of their citizens in the El Paso shooting; terrible, terrible thing.” Despite Trump’s condolences, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has announced that families of the El Paso victims have plans to sue the United States.

“The shooter in El Paso posted a manifesto online consumed by racist hate. In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry, and white supremacy. These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart, and devours the soul.”

Donald Trump

Trump’s comments today aimed to comfort Americans in a time of distress, but those who know the President’s antics have cause for alarm. Trump cites the internet as a source of radicalization for Right-Wing extremists. Given his history of cozying up to the leaders of nations fond of heavily censoring the internet, and Republican support for internet deregulation, proponents of a free and open internet should expect attempts from the Right to politicize these attacks to further their goals. Lawful gun owners are also on edge; previously Trump inflamed his gun owning constituency after the Parkland massacre, where he stated “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”

Protest Turns Violent At Australian University As Pro-Democracy and Pro-Beijing Protesters Clash

The violence over the freedom of Hong Kong citizens is no longer limited to Hong Kong. Students numbering in the hundreds gathered on the campus of the University of Queensland, staging a sit-in to protest Hong Kong’s controversial extradition bill, that if passed, would permit Hong Kong to extradite criminals to mainland China, a country with significantly fewer freedoms for citizens, and serious human rights issues.

During the protest, pro-Beijing counter protesters arrived on the scene, and “They drove us to the lawn and surrounded us for half an hour,” says student Christy Leung. Shortly after, she says the counter protesters began attacking the pro-democracy students.

No arrests were made in the Australian protest, but the students feel the need to express their resolute support for the citizens of Hong Kong who continue to be beaten, bloodied, and arrested in the streets. As the pro-democracy marches shift from weeks-long to months, China merely adds fuel to the fire, jailing a human rights activist for allegedly leaking state secrets to the world.

Proud Boys Attempt To Silence Critic At Her Own Home

Two members of the Proud Boys allegedly made a threatening appearance at the home of a popular critic of theirs, Gwen Snyder, in Philadelphia. “My partner went down to get details. The neighbor said that a group had approached, and two Proud Boys had identified themselves, tried to find out if he knew me,” Gwen tweets, “and told him to relay the following message to me: ‘Tell that fat bitch she’d better stop.'”

The Southern Poverty Law Center describes the Proud Boys as a hate group, with members and leadership who “regularly spout white nationalist memes and maintain affiliations with known extremists. They are known for anti-Muslim and misogynistic rhetoric. Proud Boys have appeared alongside other hate groups at extremist gatherings like the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.” The group purports to be a men’s club, and Republican lawmakers and public figures have repeatedly been seen publicly with members of the Proud Boys.

The far-right Proud Boys recently had a less-than-successful rally in Washington DC after the group experienced internal troubles, their main speakers mostly canceled their plans, and anti-fascist counter protesters arrived to drown out the Proud Boys’ speeches and chants.

Average citizens and Democratic lawmakers alike are concerned about organizations like the Proud Boys as law enforcement agencies report that far-right terrorism is on the rise, making up the majority of US domestic terrorist attacks in 2018. Despite far-right, white terrorists committing the bulk of US domestic terrorism (outnumbering Islamic domestic terrorists), the President and Republican lawmakers have recently set their sights on anti-fascist protesters instead, publicly declaring support to criminalize anti-fascists as terrorists.
